This slow cooker green bean casserole is a perfect way to make this classic holiday side dish that everyone loves. Having a small kitchen, it is nice to be able to make this dish on the crockpot, and leave the oven for the turkey! This is still the creamy, comforting dish that everyone loves. Tender green beans, rich mushroom soup and crispy fried onions–the same holiday side we grew up with, but easier!

How to Make this Recipe
- Prepare the crockpot
Spry or line your crockpot. I love my timing crockpot– set it and truly forget it!
- Combine
Mix the soup, spices and milk together. Slowly and gently add the beans and 3 oz of the fried onions (about half the bag).
- Cook and Enjoy
Spread evenly into the bottom of the crockpot and cook on high for 1.5 hours or low for 2-3 hours. Top with remaining onions and enjoy!

Substitutions and Additions
- substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken. Or make it cheesy and try cream of cheddar.
- sprinkle parmesan cheese on top of the casserole with the remaining onions.
- try using french style onions, or frozen green beans for a different taste. (I personally hate frozen green beans, but some like it that way!)
- add bacon bits or diced ham
FAQs
You can. Frozen green beans don’t need to be thawed first- just add a little extra cooking time. Fresh beans need to be blanched for a few minutes before adding to the crockpot to help them stay tender.
Yes. Assemble everything in the crockpot the day before, cover it and refrigerate overnight. When ready just cook as directed.
You can, but I recommend warming in the oven later so that the onions crisp back up. You may also need to add a touch of milk to help make it creamy again.
