Protein Puppy Chow
Equipment
- large bowl
- measuring cups
Ingredients
- 6 cups rice chex
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 scoop protein powder (vanilla, peanut butter cookie, etc) 1 up nutrition is what I use
- 1 tbsp ground flax seed
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a microwave safe bowl, combine the peanut butter and chocolate chips. Warm in microwave until melted and easy to combine– appx 2 minutes.
- In a separate larger bowl, measure out the chex. Pour the melted peanut butter/chocolate mixture into the chex and stir until well combined. Refrigerate the mixture until cool but not cold. About 10-15 minutes.
- While cooling, combine the protein powder, powdered sugar and ground flax. Whisk together.
- Pour the chex mix into a gallon ziploc bag, and then pour the powder mixture into the bag. Seal and gently shake until the chex is covered with the powdered sugar mixture. If you prefer more powder mixture on the puppy chow, add additional tablespoons to your preference. You could also combine the mixture in a bowl but I found I have less breakage of cereal when using a bag.
