This Nescafe latte recipe will help you enjoy your coffee fix at home! Nescafe instant espresso, water, ice, sweetener of choice, milk and oat milk make the perfect at-home iced latte. This is a recipe that could be made many different ways-including a protein latte- read along and I’ll show you how to make it!
I love a good iced latte from a local, small business, coffee shop. However, my addiction for a good latte had been going too far- I live about 15 miles from my favorite coffee place, and I would (and still sometimes do) drive to town just to get that coffee (treat yo self!). However, there are some days when I just have too much going on and simply cannot make that drive- this Nescafe iced latte recipe has SAVED me!
Ingredients in Instant Espresso Latte Recipe
The ingredients can vary so much, depending on how you like your drink. Personally, I do not like super sweet drinks, but don’t usually drink just black coffee either. If you’re somewhere in between like me- this recipe is for you. However, if you’re more of a sweet coffee type, then just play with the measurements until it works for you.
Nescafe Gold Espresso – the most important ingredient, and currently, it seems to be a hard ingredient to sometimes find! I think it is because the instant espresso is gaining popularity right now. I have heard the blonde is a sweeter variety, the intense is for you true coffee lovers, and the original is somewhere in between. I could not get my hands on either of the other 2 varieties yet- but will report back when I do. They also have a decaf version that I want to try – because I like large drinks, but don’t need all that caffeine!
Milk: I used 2% milk. You can use skim, whole or anything in between. I’ve used half and half before, too.
Oat Milk: or should I say, oat juice? Being a dairy farmers daughter, and having a college degree in dairy production, I HATE that I love using oat milk in my coffee. I want to note here- I do not add the oat milk for any kind of health benefit. I do it purely for the taste. It is sweeter than normal milk and I like the creaminess of it.
I do want to go on a quick rant about how oat milk is NOT actually milk. Can you milk an oat? No way.
Sweetener: I use 1 packet of stevia. Use real sugar, maple syrup, honey or a flavored sweetener if you choose.
How to make a latte with Nescafe Gold Espresso
As I mentioned above, this Nescafe Latte Recipe is very flexible and offers many opportunities to make it your own. Here is how I make mine:
I add 2 teaspoons (2 shots worth of instant espresso) to a bowl and add 1/2 cup warm water. Mix well. You need to use warm water for the instant espresso to dissolve well.
I pour the espresso into a cup full of ice. I recommend a pretty cup-because it makes it feel more like a coffee shop. Then, I add a packet of sugar, 1/4-1/3 cup of milk and 1/4-1/3 cup of oat milk. Give it a good stir, and done!
Variations and Substitutions for Nescafe Latte Recipe
Espresso: use any other ‘variety’ of their espresso. Mine was original but I think blonde, intense or decaf would all work great. Also- use only 1 shot if you prefer OR add 3 if you can handle that much caffeine.
Milk: use all real milk, or all oat milk if you prefer. Just use your preferred milk of choice. Half and half is great too.
Sweetener: I used stevia but real sugar, honey, maple syrup or a caramel/vanilla/mocha flavoring would all work well. If using flavoring, start with a small amount and add more if needed. I personally have tried using caramel in mine, but it doesn’t taste as good as the caramel at my coffee shops (which is strange because it’s the same kind!)
Other variations: create a cold foam with a milk frother. This is the frother I absolutely LOVE. I use it all the time for a protein powder cold foam and also use it to mix up my collagen drink. I will never go back to a hand frother again.
- how I make protein cold foam: I use about 3 tbsp of cream or oat milk and add 2-3 tbsp of salted caramel protein powder from 1up nutrition. It mixes so well in the milk frother you cannot even tell there is protein powder in it! I do the same thing when I make a iced coffee, too.
