A bowl of this creamy Crockpot White Chicken Chili Recipe tastes delicious after a day outside in the cold! Chicken, cream cheese, corn, heavy cream, onion, garlic, great northern beans, green chiles and chili seasonings make for a delicious pot of creamy goodness! This tastes great as leftovers, too.
Ingredients in creamy white chicken chili
chicken – about 1.5-2 lbs (2 medium size breasts).
chicken broth – 32 oz container. Low sodium preferred OR make your own in the crockpot or instapot with this recipe.
Beans & Corn -2-15 oz cans of northern beans. Any brand is fine. Drain them and rinse with water. 1 can of corn or freezer corn is perfect.
Chiles & onion – mild green Chiles is what I prefer, but use hot if you like. I used a red onion however I think any kind would work fine.
cream cheese & heavy cream – donโt forget the dairy! You could substitute for whole milk and light cream cheese- but we are going for ultimate creaminess here for the white chicken chili.
seasonings – minced garlic, salt to taste, chili powder and cumin. Cayenne is optional and to taste!
Is this crockpot white chicken chili recipe freezer friendly?
If you would like to freezer this slow cooker white chicken chili, just put the ingredients in a gallon freezer bag (cream cheese diced up). Then, unthaw in the fridge the night before throw in crockpot.
You could also cook the white chicken chili entirely and then freeze in portions to heat in microwave. We have done this recipe just like that for our freezer meal business!
What to eat with white chicken chili?
most folks would say a salad, or maybe a piece of homemade bread. What about cinnamon rolls? Is that just a Midwest thing? Itโs normally served with regular chili, but letโs make it a go with white chicken chili too! Here is an easy frozen bread dough cinnamon roll recipe – the maple frosting is amazing! Itโs like homemade but way easier!
Is this creamy chicken chili versatile?
Absolutely! Substitute regular cream cheese with light, or heavy whipping cream with whole or 2% milk. Reduce the sodium with low sodium chicken broth and beans.
Substitute the chicken with ground turkey for a different protein, or add more veggies to the mix. I think a can of corn would taste good in this recipe.

Creamy Crockpot White Chicken Chili Recipe
Equipment
- 1 large crockpot
- 1 cutting board
- utensils, knives, spoons
Ingredients
- 2 chicken breasts about 2 lbs
- 1 32 oz chicken broth regular or low sodium
- 2 15 oz cans great northern beans drained
- 1 can diced chiles mild, or regular
- 1 red onion diced
- 3 tsp minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cayenne optional
- 1 8 oz package cream cheese can use light
- 1 cup heavy cream can use milk
- 1-2 tsp cilantro or use fresh
- toppings such as avocado, cheese, tortilla chips
- 1 15 oz can of corn or freezer corn
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to crockpot except the heavy whipping cream, cream cheese and cilantro. Cook on high 3-4 hours or low 5-7 hours.
- After cooking time is complete, pull the whole chicken breasts out and shred. Then, return back to the crockpot.
- Add heavy cream, cream cheese (cut up in cubes) and cilantro. Cook until cream cheese has melted.
- Serve up a bowl and top with avocado, tortilla chips, shredded cheese and enjoy!
