1 deep skillet for frying
1 mixing bowl medium size
measuring utensils
paper towels
small bowl to roll in sugar
thermometer to check temperature of oil
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sugar for dipping donuts in
Heat oil on medium heat in deep skillet about 2 inches of oil
Combine ingredients in the order given.
Once well combined, drop batter by teaspoonful into hot oil (350 F). Turnover donuts to brown evenly. When browned nicely (about 5 minutes), remove from oil and drain on paper towel. Toss in bowl of sugar to coat.
Make sure to check the temperature of the oil, if the oil is too hot (over 350F) they may burn on the outside, but not cook through on the inside. (I know from experience!)
Cook the donuts in small batches to avoid lower temp of oil too much.
You may need to turn over the donuts a bit to be sure they are browned evenly, depending on amount of oil in the pan.
It might take a little longer to cook depending on amount done at 1 time.
