Skillet Italian Beef Penne

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1/2 Onion diced
  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup Milk or cream
  • 8 oz. Penne pasta
  • 2 tsp. Minced Garlic
  • 2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese ex. mozzarella or sharp cheddar
  • 2 tbsp flour or corn starch (to thicken sauce)

Instructions
 

  • In skillet, brown ground beef and onion on medium heat. Drain any excess fat and return to stove top.
  • Add the tomato sauce, beef broth, milk, noodles, garlic and italian seasonings. Bring mixture to boil and reduce heat to simmer. Cook until pasta is tender (about 15 minutes) Stirring frequently.
  • Stir the cheese into the mixture and cook until melted. Enjoy!

Notes

 
Freezer friendly: Make a double batch to store in freezer for a busy night. Heat up a single serving in the microwave or bake in the oven. 
Substitutions:
Feel free to substitute ground beef with sausage. 
Don’t have penne on hand? Substitute with shells or elbow macaroni.
This recipe would taste great withheavy cream as substitute for milk.
Add a can of mushrooms or a handful of spinach to pack some veggies in the meal.
